Took a ride on the Vespa today to hunt for interesting cars. It was an odd morning. No one has ever said anything to me about taking pictures of cars on the street, but today three people asked me what I was doing in a suspicious, less than friendly manner. I told them that I liked cars annd was taking pictures of cats I like. Everyone responded well - I think it helps that a blue Vespa is a pretty cheerful vehicle.

This is what I saw today.

I never see these anymore

I approve of this driveway. Classic Nova on the curb, and an old Sentra and Mercedes in the drive. I don’t know these people, but I like them.

I like old compact pickups

Isuzu Hombre? A unicorn!

These were within 3 houses of each other on the same block.

I love old pickups - especially when they are still in use as work trucks.

This next one got me excited when I saw it

Then I drove past and gasped out loud.

I’m headed to Oakland today for my nephew’s birthday, and will keep my automotive eyes peeled.

I first learned to drive in one of those. Same color and everything, and was in absolute mint condition.

4 speed manual with a MANUAL CHOKE.

Seriously. When was the last time you saw an automobile with a manual choke? Only one I can ever recall seeing. Even my 60's chevy was automagic.

If I saw a guy riding around on a scooter taking pictures of cars I’d probably assume he was scoping out cars to steal.

Is it just me or is everything really dusty?

That last photo - is that rust on the roof from the vinyl covering it had? There’s nothing I hate more than vinyl roofs.
